District One received a grant to address diversity in our schools. This year, PS15 will become a School-wide Enrichment Model school. This means that PS15 will identify and develop the talents, gifts, and passions of each student. Students will be engaged in interest and curricular-based clusters. Students will have a multitude of experiences with the arts, sciences, and sports. We will expose students to new interests, pique their curiosity, and foster a love of learning. The shift to a School-wide Enrichment Model will support the diversification of our student body. As a result, we expect to educate a community of learners who more accurately represent the community in which they live. While PS15 takes on this endeavor, there are two additional work groups related to this grant. One work group is planning a Family Resource Center to ensure parents are fully informed when selecting schools and to serve as a community resource. Another work group is conducting research and writing a recommendation for a more equitable SES-integration admissions policy. We are excited to be a part of this very important work!
